In a world where the local hardware store is getting drowned out by massive big box retailers I am very appreciative of C&D Hardware. Great place for the little things we needed. Now they have a little bit of a lot of things and when I need a lot of something I need to let them know, which is understandable because its a small local hardware store. They are there to help you and don’t make you feel bad about it.
I hope it stays around for a long time coming.

I love this place. I went in today to replace a leaky faucet. I was very ignorant about what I was looking for. However, the employee working at the store assisted me throughout the whole process and did not belittle me at all. I will continue coming here.

This place takes the time to provide exceptional service, and the prices seem to be the same as what I might expect from a Lowe’s or Home Depot.
I visited here to get advice for a home repair issue — interior doors coming of their hinges. Since I have no experience with fixing these sorts of things, I spoke with an older gent named «John.» John obliviously had decades of home carpentry experience, so he explained my repair options, spent the time to get me the appropriate screws and materials, and then got me out the door in about 15 minutes. Given what I spent on the hardware (not a lot), I almost wanted to tip him for his time and advice. I will definitely be coming back.
Much better then wasting time looking for an overworked employee at Home Depot, and then worrying about buying the wrong items.

I’m not exactly handy and have never actually enjoyed going to a hardware store before, but C&D isn’t an ordinary hardware store. They have a unique selection of gifts and outdoor items. More importantly, the employees are extremely knowledgable, helpful, and friendly.

The young guy with a blonde mowhawk has a questionable approach to checking people out. I bought 3 washers and as he checked out he just said «price». I gave him a confused look and he just said «price.» Then he punched in a bunch of prices and I said «how’d you figure that out» then he looked at me and said he made them up.

LOVE-LOVE. The selection of basic items is GREAT. I’ve rarely not found what I needed. Service is EXCELLENT.

Nice folks, and as helpful as you could expect. Go wander around Lowes and search for someone to help you if you have questions. The folks at C&D are often waiting by the door to greet you and get you to the right spot.

I love everything about C&D!!! Normally, I’m just in there browsing the gift/home décor section – they have super cute gifts and garden décor items. But, whenever I need ANYTHING hardware-related, the employees here are unbelievably helpful!!! I know nothing about home repairs, lightbulbs, batteries… none of it. I can walk into C&D, say something like «I need one of those thingies that goes on that thing in the bathroom that does that thing to make the flusher work.» Without fail, whatever employee I encounter will help me find the right thingy for the right thing, explain to me how to fix it, and never get annoyed (at least not visibly!) by my endless questions. Great place, definite a staple in the Heights, and highly recommended!!!

Old school mom & pop feeling hardware store. The employees are very friendly & ready to help. The store is a bit crowded feeling, but they have tons of things & always has what I need. Very easy to run in & out without the hassle of big stores.
I really love how they ask me if I want a bag, especially when buying small stuff. No need to contribute to landfill waste when you can easily carry your purchases out without the plastic bag! Other hardware stores look at me like I’m crazy if I don’t want the bag, and some have questioned me when I carry stuff out of the store without one.
If you live in the Heights it’s a crime to not shop here for your home improve ya needs, and even home/garden gifts!

I really wanted to like this store. I moved to the area a few weeks ago and needed to have some key copies made and thought «why not visit the neighborhood hardware store?». So a good girlfriend and I went in, browsed, and then made our way to the keys.
The guy who cut the keys for me was extremely pushy about buying the more colorful keys and seriously went on about it for a solid 5 minutes. Each time that I protested, he stood there with my key in his hand, arms crossed, and harassed me more. I felt flustered and picked out some keys just to get him to stop repeating himself and talking down to me. After he started to cut the first key, he told me that they cost 3x extra than the regular keys.
When I went to check out I was even more put off from this store. The sales guy heard all of this commotion of the key guy bothering me and not once said anything but had the audacity to chuckle and say «got talked into the expensive ones, huh».
I can honestly say I do not want to go back to this store. I think that this is a display of horrible customer service and really doesn’t make me trust them.

They saved me a ton of money on a car transponder key. They cut, programmed, and tested the key – it was perfect – in about 15 minutes. The local locksmith wanted to charge me 3x as much for the key as these guys!
This is definitely a down to earth local hardware store.

About as good as a hardware store gets, and I have been coming here pretty much since the day I moved into the Heights. Service is super friendly, but above that incredibly knowledgeable. They are always willing to help you find what you need, at the cheapest price. All the home improvement goods are there, nick nacks for the yard, mulch, good and healthy pet foods. Along with that one of a kind, hardware store smell that is so reassuring.
Every neighborhood needs a true local hardware store. This is a place that would make Hank Hill happy, and it certainly makes the Heights happy cause the place is always packed. The prices are competitive with any chain or box store as well. For people living in the neighborhood, there is no reason to go anywhere else.

Everyone in the store is sooo nice and helpful and I swear this hardware store has EVERYTHING you might need! It has a very mom and pop feel to it, something I love about Heights types of stores. A few months ago they noticed that I had my two dogs waiting in the car one day while I ran in to have a key made and they made sure to give me two dog treats and told me to feel free to bring the pups inside next time. So sweet! Love this place!

I get the whole mom and pop store, local family owned idea and want to support all stores like this in the heights. But this place is not good. Too overpriced. I have to write down the price of each item I want and take to cashier. I bought what I need for a project at the house and spent $ 35 at Home Depot. A week later did exact same project and got exact same supplies from this store and spent $ 65. Support local owned Heights stores, but not this one.

Great place, and I *really* hope people keep shopping here so that it doesn’t go the way of other small hardware stores have gone with the advent of Home Depot, Lowes, etc.
You get REAL customer care her — someone is always available to help. I’ve gone in there looking for hardware/home fix-it items and also things to make some craft projects (i.e.: we made our own didgeridoos and had someone help pick out PVC pipe, couplings, paint, etc. that would all work for that project).
They have a couple aisles of kitchy home decore stuff but that’s part of the charm. You think the place is small when you go in and then you realize it extends farther back and to the sides.
Get in here for your home improvement needs!

C & D Hardware is a hidden gem located on 11th St. in the heart of the Heights. They have everything you need when it comes to hardware supplies, gardening, paint and more. They also have a very eclectic selection of unique gifts for special occasions.
The customer service at C & D is probably one of many things that makes this store a place you want to shop for everything. They always have staffing on the floor to assist you in finding whatever you need and if they don’t have it, they will order it.
Don’t waste your time trying to find a parking place at this big chain hardware stores only to then stand in line to get checked out and maybe save a few cents. Shop C & D once and you will never go back to a big box hardware store again.

This place is so cute, it almost makes me not hate home improvement. They have a few aisles full of random kitschy cute house stuff, so this is where you can find me while the boyfriend searches for a nut or a bolt or a hammer or whatever.
They make copies of keys for cheap and we’ve never been unable to find said nut or bolt or hammer, so it seems to be pretty well-stocked!

Looks small from the outside, but this neighborhood hardware store has met all my weekend warrior needs!
As soon as you’re inside, someone is there to greet you and guide you around until you have everything on your list. The people who work here actually know a thing or two about DIY-ing, gardening, etc., and they are willing to share helpful advice when asked.
C&D is well-stocked on tools, paint supplies, gardening supplies, and hardware of all shapes and sizes. They also cut Kwikset compatible keys and offer knife sharpening services.
Oh, and they allow my sort-of-well-behaved dog inside the store, and give her a treat at the register… It doesn’t get much more mom & pop than that. Love this store!

The epitome of small town shopping. No, of course they don’t have plywood by the ton or pallets of sod, but they have most everything else, and someone within arms reach to help you at every corner of the shop.
Many locals must agree– parking lot was as busy as the mall at Christmas this past Sunday. I used to live around the corner, so I usually walked. In fact, whenever I was doing a project, they could be sure to find me two, three times a day looking for just one more part…
I still go out of my way to come here, especially when I need a break from Big Box land. Check it out.

Great. Convenient. Local.
America needs small hardware stores. Why?
1. When you aren’t trying to buy all the materials to build an entire subdivision, and don’t feel like standing in line behind someone who is
2. When you don’t want to buy a map or hire a guide/sherpa to find some tools
3. When you need just a simple screw and not enough to last you 10 years (I’m talking about hardware, people, don’t read into things)
4. If you crave the whole road rage/parking/traffic thing, you can always hit the Galleria at 1pm on a Saturday instead
The prices are pretty competitive to Lowe’s/Home Depot and the selection is pretty good. They also carry things that are hard to find because they are low volume. Single-outlet surge protectors. Someone posted on Talk that they were looking for Diatomaceous Earth and C&D had it!
The staff there knows their stuff and are pretty good about helping you out without you having to chase them down.
And seriously, the wasted time and gas? The aggravation? It’s worth more to me than a couple of cents I might save on a light bulb – assuming I even want a dozen of them at once.
The local hardware store smell is an added bonus!
